Where has the time gone?
Wow, did you know it was August already? I'm not sure what happened but the sun started to shine and I went outside to run. I haven't thought about crochet until last night. My friends are having babies, the mornings are getting cooler it's time to find my hooks and break out the old slow cooker. Maybe I'm rushing into things I think it's going to feel like 35 degrees outside today.

Time for a Summer Hat
Today it is 25 degrees, I think it's time to come up with Ruth's summer hat. The sun has inspired me.

Changes
When I was in school I learned one really important thing about designing. It was knowing when to stop the changes. I like to refer to this point in the design as when you "pick it and stick it". Unfortunately I'm having a really hard time applying my interior design rule to my crochet design. Every time I'm make a test hat I change the pattern. The changes aren't big, they are mostly about number of stitches and what rows they go on but they are driving me crazy. Will I ever hay my hat pattern ready?

I Love Yarn
I have a secret to tell you, I actually feel the yarn on my face before I buy it! I know you are picturing a lady in the middle of an isle holding balls of yarn up to her face. Well, how do you gauge the softness? There is something about the colour and texture of different types of yarn that just gets my imagination churning. Yesterday I came across a little round ball of 100% merino wool, it was a beautiful taupey pink, how lovely. I've already sketched two more ideas because of that little ball. If they would let me I could sit in the yarn store all day dreaming of ideas, or travel from one to another filling up my cart with new skeins. It may be silly to some, but I really do love YARN!.

For the Love of the Process
Raspberry Ruth is here and it is time to get my first pattern up for sale. For the past few weeks any spare moment I have, I've been dreaming of, working on or writing my first crochet hat pattern. So far the hardest part has been trying to stick to one pattern and not fly off to another idea mid project. I've made two samples, and I think the third and last sample will be the one I use for the detail photograph's I plan to include. I'm hoping to have all the testing and editing complete soon. The learning and creating continues.
